Its broad leaves with their citrus notes enliven the flavour of soups, sauces, salads, omelettes, quiche etc. Due to the high vitamin content, sorrel was used to prevent scurry. A diuretic and kidney tonic. Used as gargle to treat sore throats. An essential plant in every garden. Garden Sorrel is a native of southern France and prefers rocky, well drained soils in protected sunny position. Frost resistant but drought tender. A perennial plant of alpine regions, growing to 1m x 0.3m.
