DescriptionCows Udder Plant, Solanum mammosum, is sometimes know as Nipple Fruit and Udder Plant in acknowledgement of the distinctive yellow or orange fruit. These bloated structures, about 5cm long, resemble a cows udder with several nipples. Branches bearing several fruit used in flower arrangements. Cows Udder Plant is native to Central America and prefers moist, well drained soil in a protected, sunny position. Frost and drought tender. A perennial, soft-wooded shrub, growing to 1.2m x 1.0m. Hairy leaves and spiny stems. Smallish yellow and purple flowers.
