Essential oil is highly antiseptic – leaves rubbed on the gum will relieve toothache. Folk remedy to aid digestion. A companion plant. Used in pot pourri. Garden Oregano is a native of Asia, northern Africa and southern Europe. Prefers calcareous soils in an open, sunny position. Frost resistant but drought tender. A perennial ground cover, growing to 0.4m x 0.6m.
