Description Family Woodsiaceae Originating from Japan Lacy lime and wine, delicate yet strong growing and lush fronds make this a truly outstanding fern. Sufficiently intricate in the colouration of its deep burgundy veins to warrant viewing close up, it is also a bright enough green to make a stunning impact from afar. Even as the leaves mellow from lime to mid-green and then grey-green, they contribute a distinctive tone to woodland and oriental planting schemes. Later into leaf than other ferns, it holds them later into winter too. Easy to grow in moist dappled shade to deep shade, in all but alkaline soil. Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 90cm x 90cm.
